The researcher at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla (IMSE-CNM), José Manuel de la Rosa, addressed the topic "From Transistor to Cognitive Radio" in the sixth seminar within the 1st Edition of the CENIM-DIVULGA Cycle of Scientific Dissemination Seminars.
Last Wednesday, June 12, the sixth seminar within the 1st Edition of the CENIM-DIVULGA Scientific Dissemination Seminar Cycle took place in the Conference Room of the National Center for Metallurgical Research (CENIM).
On this occasion, José Manuel de la Rosa, researcher at the Instituto de Microelectrónica de Sevilla (IMSE-CNM) addressed the topic "From Transistor to Cognitive Radio", where a historical overview of microelectronics was presented, from the invention of the transistor to current microprocessors that integrate tens of billions of components manufactured on a scale close to atomic dimensions.
To do this, the operation of the main components of the chips was considered, as well as the scientific-technological advances that make possible many of the functions of such popular electronic devices as the mobile phone. The colloquium ended with the presentation of current challenges and trends, as well as research projects in multidisciplinary fields that combine artificial neural networks and integrated circuit design for mobile communication systems based on the Cognitive Radio paradigm.
