IMSE signs off on excellence in digital security

The research talent of IMSE shines once again with the "Leonardo Torres Quevedo" Award granted to Pablo Navarro for his Master's Thesis that delves into the security and efficiency of cryptographic algorithms

Award TFM Pablo Navarro IMSE

The Master's Thesis prepared by IMSE researcher Pablo Navarro, and supervised by Piedad Brox and Eros Camacho, has been awarded a prize in the "Leonardo Torres Quevedo" competition (7th edition) in the area of ??Cryptology and Information Security.

The study, entitled "Security Assessment in the Hardware Implementation of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithms (PFM – USE)," was defended at IMSE facilities on June 28, 2024. Its compelling results, which involved the hardware implementation of the EdDSA digital signature algorithm using elliptic curves, have earned it this distinction.

The work analyzes the implementation and optimization techniques, evaluates performance in terms of time and resources, and studies its security against SPA (Simple Power Analysis) attacks.

The award ceremony was held at the Leonardo Torres Quevedo Institute of Physical and Information Technologies and was jointly organized by the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and the National Cryptologic Center (CCN), of the National Intelligence Center (CNI).

Award TFM Pablo Navarro IMSE

From IMSE, we congratulate Pablo Navarro, Piedad Brox, and Eros Camacho on this recognition and encourage them to continue contributing to the advancement of knowledge in this field.
